Sliding Glass Window Specifications
General Specifications:
Aluminum windows shall
be Victor Dual Sliding Windows as manufactured by VICTOR SUN CONTROL of
Philadelphia, PA. Sizes and types shall be as shown on the drawings and
shall meetA.A.M.A. / NWWDA / 101/ 1.5.2-97 specifications.
MATERIALS:
All aluminum sections shall be made with electro static painted baked
enamel finish aluminum extruded 6063-T5 alloy having an ultimate tensile
strength of 22,000 psi, a yield of 16,000 psi with a nominal thickness
of .062 inches (± commercial tolerances). Tracks shall be aluminum.Weatherstripping
shall be of high density silicone treated pile. All hardware shall be
of noncorrosive material compatible with aluminum. Sash glazing channel
is of extruded vinyl.
CONSTRUCTION:
Frames shall be fastened with butted, coped cut joints to assure maximum
rigidity. Frame sill corners shall have an approved sealant to help insure
water tight joints.
SILL:
Sill shall be characterized by two piece hollow construction and easily
detached for cleaning and replacement. Undersill of frame shall have weep
holes provided to assure adequate exterior water drainage.
SASH:
Fitted with mitred joints, sashes are joined in each case by 2 stainless
steel screws at each corner. Sash panels are readily removable for cleaning
or reglazing. Sash rollers are self-lubricating Dupont Delrin® rollers.
Double pile weather- stripping shall be installed around entire sash perimeter.
Interlocking contacts for each sash prevent removal when closed. Each
sash shall lock and operate independently.
AIR AND WATER
INFILTRATION:
Resistance to air and water seepage shall meet or exceed requirements
of Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Association HS-BI HP.
INSTALLATION:
All window frames shall be installed (by others) following manufacturers
recommendations: straight plumb and level without springing or distorting.
Head and sill shall be aligned parallel and square with jambs. Sill shall
be supported along entire length. Windows shall be properly caulked using
a non-hardened sealant compatible with aluminum to provide a watertight
seal around the perimeter of the window and the wall opening.
GLASS INSULATION:
Sash shall be factory glazed with 1/2 inch insulating glass, single strength
glass, or double strength glass. Marine type wrap around vinyl glazing
channel shall be used to eliminate glass to metal contact.
SCREENS:
Windows can accomodate two half screens that are made with extruded aluminum
frames, and charcoal finished fiberglass screen wire. These screens have
a built-in lift rail.
HARDWARE:
Interior movable sashes are fitted with extruded aluminum, spring loaded
latches which shall engage an integral part of frame jamb to assure weather
tightness. Aluminum latch shall be adjustable to operate at any height
on the sash.
FASTENERS:
All related fasteners (i.e., screws, nuts, washers, bolts, rivets), shall
be of stainless steel, aluminum or other noncorrosive materials compatible
with aluminum.
